The Power in Me!
Share
I had a realization this week. It was the result of a series of events, experiences, and conversations I’ve had over the past few months—and it all came to a head in a moment that was so empowering, transformative, and freeing, I knew I had to share it.
For a long time, I believed that finding power within myself somehow went against what I had been taught in my faith. That owning my strength, standing in my truth, and using the gifts within me would be sacrilegious. And while I still hold deep respect for my spiritual roots, I now see how wrong that belief was.
Please—whatever your background or belief system—don’t fall for the lie that you aren’t worthy of greatness. You were created with purpose. You are capable of more than you will ever give yourself credit for. The power you’re looking for? It’s already in you.
I remember the first time I met Kyle Maynard at an event I was helping to organize. His story—born without limbs yet determined to live without excuses—is the kind of story that shifts your soul. What really stuck with me was the story of his mother. She never let him make excuses. She pushed him to do things for himself. And in doing so, she taught him the most powerful lesson of all: the only person standing in your way is you.
And so, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro—without the use of hands or legs.
That mindset—the one that pushes past perceived limits—is what I hope I’ve instilled in my four children. It’s what I carry into every TAP training, coaching session, and keynote.
Yet I still meet people who resist the idea that empowerment is available to them. Some dismiss the very idea of balance as unattainable.
"Balance doesn’t exist," they’d say. "It’s not possible."
Here’s the thing: That’s the wrong question. Instead of asking if something is possible, ask how it could be possible. The moment you shift from limitation to curiosity, the game changes. I've seen that glimmer of hope in so many eyes. And I’ve also seen despair in a few.
That despair is what I want to speak to. Some people truly believe they are unworthy of joy, balance, or success. A lifetime of toxic messages—from parents, partners, authority figures, or the world—has convinced them they are less than. If that’s you, hear me clearly:
You have the power to reject that message. It is a lie.
You can pursue a life of meaning, connection, joy, and fulfillment. It doesn’t require magic. It requires intention. You already have everything you need.
If you’re stuck, start by asking yourself:
- Are you in relationships where you are valued?
- Does your boss even know what you do every day?
- Are you allowed to dream? To play? To rest without guilt?
- Are you exercising? Are you sleeping?
- Do you know your core values?
- Are you nurturing your faith—whatever that looks like for you?
- Do you like yourself?
So, what was the realization I had this week?
That I’m in control. Not just in theory. I believed it this time. I felt it in my bones.
And with that realization came something I hadn’t felt in a long time: peace.
Life is short. Too short to let your story be dictated by lies, fear, or resignation. You were created strong. You were created with purpose.
Please don’t waste that.
